Fiber Fusion Art on Canvas – Earth
By
I thought I would stop for an hour or two on my internet business and have a look another one of my passions – Fiber Fusion.
What’s that you are saying. You’re not alone when I get asked that.
Think of a white bread sandwich -
Bread – lay down a piece of dissovable fabric
Filling No.1 – Spread out unspun fibers in one direction (wool, cotton, silk etc)
Filling No.2 – Spread out more unspun fibers in the other direction.
Fillings No.3, 4, 5.. – Spread on any other textiles you like, other fibersribbon, glitter lace etc. (There are two criteria are this – one it must stand up to any temperate of water and the second you must be able to sew it on a sewing machine).
Bread – top off with another layer of dissovable fabric.
Pin together in all directions, starting from the middle and work your way out to the outside.
Sew, sew, sew and wiz-sew all over and around, up and down, horizontal any direction you want to go on sewing machine, keeping layers as flat as possible.
Put in very hot water and using wooden spoon stir around until the fabric has dissolved. Few seconds is all it takes.
Straight away put into cold water, this stops the fabric shrinking and felting too much.
Stretch and hang out to dry.
Here’s a close up of ‘Earth’. Enjoy!
